I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was extremely frustrating. Before booking, I called and explained that I was having teeth pain and wanted the earliest appointment available. I was told that 2:00 PM was the soonest opening, so I scheduled it. I arrived on time at 2:00 PM and understood there might be a short wait. However, waiting over an hour is unacceptable. Another patient and I both had 2:00 PM appointments. I signed in before she did, yet she was called back first. I didn’t mind at first, but after waiting over an hour, I started asking questions. At one point, another patient told me they had a 3:00 PM appointment, and they were called in before me as well. I went to the receptionist and explained that if I wasn’t going to be seen, I would gladly reschedule because I had somewhere else to be. I was told it would only be another five minutes. Fifteen minutes later, I was still waiting and had not been called. I eventually left. The most frustrating part wasn’t even the wait itself it was the lack of communication and respect for patients’ time. If you’re running behind schedule or unable to see someone, please be honest and give them the option to reschedule instead of having them sit there for over an hour with no updates. My teeth was hurting, I had already taken medication, and I arranged my day around this appointment. This experience showed a complete disregard for patients’ time, and I hope the office improves its communication and scheduling practices.
I went in for a chipped tooth, while they filled it, the fill didn't hold. Then they drilled it out. Afterwards, they put in a temporary cap. Later in the month, the temporary cap came off. Went back in and they drilled too much into my tooth, they said they had to put in a permanent cap. It was supposed to be a simple filling and turned into a permanent cap. Every time I went in, I saw a different dentist, so they didn't seem to know what course of action to take. After all these visits, they proceeded to charge me $700+. I ended up visiting another dentist to get this fixed which cost me $500. Needless to say, I won't return or recommend this dentist. I felt they were trying to charge me for services and procedures that I didn't need.
Very unfortunate. I had an appointment at 5 for a normal cleaning, took until 5:40 to see me ( I understand). They took x-rays (I took then at the same office 6 months ago). Dentist looked at my teeth and recommended a retainer. Evily (or something similar) quoted me $500 for a retainer. I politely declined. She immediately told me it’s 6:00 so I have to get my cleaning another time. I stated I had an appointment for 5. She came back and RUDELY stated “I told the dentist you were upset so she will stay.” BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL and shameful. Everyone else was fine but Evily was so rude. It felt like a scam.
I came in for an infected, impacted wisdom tooth extraction. Prior to the procedure, they tried to push me into extracting my adjacent molar at the same time, and when I asked questions, Evelyn and Brittney were rude and hostile. And the doctor was dismissive and annoyed. I chose not to make a decision right away about the adjacent tooth. Later, I saw notes on the doctor’s screen during a follow-up that stated I “insisted” on being awake for the procedure, which is not true. I was never given a clear option and was extremely anxious, in pain, and uncomfortable being awake during the extraction. After the procedure, Evelyn initially tried to schedule my follow-up a month out, saying it was the only day the oral surgeon would be in. This conflicted with what I was told by scheduling, which was that I was already set for a two-week follow-up. When I questioned her, she raised her voice and said my insurance likely wouldn’t approve an earlier visit. That may be true, but it didn’t explain why I was told conflicting information. After consenting to the extraction and bone graft (which I paid for out of pocket), I was told the neighboring tooth was severely decayed and causing intense pain. While I was in that state, they again pushed me to extract that tooth as well, even though I had originally wanted to wait and see if it could be saved. I returned for follow-up care after missing work due to the severity of the pain. After waiting to be seen, I was told the extraction site was healing normally and that the pain was due to the neighboring tooth. I was told I would have to wait approximately two weeks for the second extraction. At that point, I felt pressured to agree due to how much pain I was in, even though the tooth may have been savable with a root canal. When I asked how to manage the pain in the meantime, I was not given any meaningful guidance beyond continuing ibuprofen. Evelyn made a mocking, exaggerated sad face and shook her head when I asked if there was anything else that could help. I was also told that if I needed care sooner, I would have to call other dental offices myself, with no referral or assistance. At this point, after missing work, being in extreme pain, and getting no real support, I sat in my car and cried. I felt completely dismissed and honestly bullied. Throughout every visit, I felt dismissed and not heard. I was interrupted and talked over while trying to explain my symptoms. My questions were treated like complaints, and my concerns were not taken seriously. Any attempt I made to be an informed patient was met with dismissive or manipulative behavior. At a time when I was in significant pain and seeking help, the experience felt predatory. After that last visit, I knew I could not go back. I called multiple places and was eventually seen the same day by a dentist in Alhambra. That experience was completely different. He treated me with respect, took time to explain everything, and prescribed appropriate pain management. He also told me the tooth I had been pressured to extract was likely savable and recommended a root canal and crown. The exact option I had originally asked about. That moment made it clear how poorly I had been treated here. I can confidently say that the care I received at this office was unacceptable. Communication was inconsistent, referrals they claimed to submit were never actually sent (confirmed by my insurance), and I was repeatedly given conflicting information about my treatment and aftercare. This experience left me feeling worse off after treatment and without proper support during recovery. As someone who hadn’t seen a dentist in many years, this was extremely overwhelming and honestly traumatic. If you have the ability to go elsewhere, I strongly recommend that you do. You should not have to tolerate being dismissed, pressured, or left in severe pain without support. There are providers who will treat you with care and respect.
A Horrible Dental Office Experience In my lifetime I have visited more than 15 dental offices, and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. The only thing this office seems to do well is marketing. Their website and online presence make the Dental Group of Arcadia look very professional, which is why I decided to try them. Unfortunately, the actual experience was the opposite. I visited this office on March 12, 2026 because I only wanted a simple teeth cleaning. Before my appointment I asked about pricing, but the office told me the doctor would explain the cost after I arrived. When I got there, they immediately started taking X-rays without clearly explaining what they were doing. By the time several X-rays had already been taken, it felt awkward to stop. Dr. Peggie Chen then came in for a very rough and quick exam and recommended a long list of procedures, including removing all four wisdom teeth, redoing a root canal and crown, and several other treatments. Another thing that surprised me was during the exam. While Dr. Peggie Chen was checking my teeth, a staff member who was writing down the notes put a suction pipe into my mouth without wearing gloves, which I found very concerning. One more thing they seem to hide is their work records. When I requested a copy of my X-rays so I could get a second opinion, the office told me they do not release digital X-rays to patients, only paper copies. I asked how another dentist could properly review my case without the digital images, but they said that was their policy. Nice website and strong marketing, but based on my experience, good luck.
