All they really did was straighten my teeth, but they never addressed my tooth flaring, crowding, or talked through other possible solutions. Now I’m dealing with long-term issues and having to seek orthodontic treatment again to correct what was left unresolved. Instead of properly making my teeth even, they shaved them down, which left them uneven, and they even shaved the tips of my canines. More attention shouldve been given to the overall outcome instead of just straightening them. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office.
The people here really made me feel at ease about having metal braces on my teeth and they were so kind to me. I had a clear understanding of what the process was and how to take care of them. - Izzy
Dr. Choi and the entire staff at Walnut Central Orthodontics took excellent care of me from beginning to end of a long and challenging 2.5 year journey. I came to her office in 2021 with a serious anterior open bite and Dr. Choi had to be the one to tell me that I very likely needed jaw surgery. She was very empathetic to me and referred me to Dr. Andrew Arango who ended up being an excellent surgeon. I had to get non-traditional metal surgical braces and it was a very challenging preparation path forward. I contemplated not proceeding and even delayed (~6-8 months) while having the braces because I had a hard time accepting surgery as being the only corrective path forward. Not once did Dr. Choi ever express frustration with me in the delay and she never dismissed my questions. Even I was frustrated with myself for repeatedly second guessing this diagnosis. The entire staff deserves a giant kudos as they were always in good spirits and were very kind to me while working on my difficult case for over 2 years. Side note: My surgeon who was supposed to do a full digital mock up of my surgery called her on the Sunday which was a day before my surgery. She discussed with him a different path forward that allowed me to only need top jaw surgery, a less invasive surgery, and allowed for a quicker recovery than originally planned. I'm very grateful that she always made time for me and was always so reliable. Thank you so much Dr. Choi!
The front office and finance office staff were excellent. Things went down hill once Dr. Choi arrived. Initially she was professional. Very shortly into the consultation she started to seem as though she did not want to proceed with treating me. I asked her if she was unable, or not wanting to take on my case. She said she could do it, but spent the next 10 minutes shooting down almost every concern that I had. She was giving me the, "I'm smarter than you" passive aggressive disposition. I addressed her communication style/behavior, and decided not to proceed with the appointment. I was disheartened because I specifically chose her, based off of my research, and hoped to have a great professional experience under her care. My experience with her was unprofessional. I hope that it was just a one off, or just me, and that no one else experiences that level of dismissive, belittling. I hope you have a better day, Dr. Choi. Please be mindful. People choose you because you have a solid portfolio. No need to prove that you are smarter than your patient. You should be in this case, as you are being selected based on your knowledge and expertise. Please work on your people skills.
My initial visit was amazing! I didn't feel like I was at a regular dental office. This office is live and full of energy! You will feel welcomed each time you visit. Ethan was awesome! He assisted me from start to finish. Susie was amazing and funny! She assisted Ethan and her teamwork was automatic without questioning. She knows the job in her sleep. Dr. Choi is full of humor and knowledge. She explained my health information and showed me possible results after treatment. Moreover, I enjoyed the balance of professionalism and personable interactions amongst the office. They are a close-knit family away from home. I had a smile throughout my visit and laughed the entire time. Keep in mind if you don't have child care or a babysitter, they have an Xbox console to keep the children entertained.
