Thank you so much, Dr. Razvi. As always, I truly appreciate your advice. I’m glad to hear that my teeth are in good condition. As you recommended regarding the cavities and removing one of my teeth, I will schedule a visit with you soon. Thank you once again for your care and guidance.
This Dental office is great. They have good competent staff. They are friendly and accommodating. They work well with my adult son who has special needs. We can always get appointments as needed. Dentist are Great!
Dentist Ruqaya Lilo and Dental Hygienist Jenny are great at what they do! I know how hard it can be to find a dentist you can entrust your children with so I would recommend these ladies if you can't find a children's dentist you actually like. I have brought my daughters here before but this was the first time my 6 year old has had a filling. The kind professionalism of Hygienist Jenny and Dentist Lilo was apparent. And their knowledge on how to properly assist an antsy and fearful child is top-teir. No screams, no tears, just a happy kid with a fixed tooth. Thank you all for caring like you do💖
DO NOT GO THERE... I visited First Family Dental on May 18. I had originally removed my review, but after giving it more thought, I've decided to repost it because I am very disappointed with my experience. I have never been fearful of dental work, but this was by far the most uncomfortable/painful dental visit I've ever had. Now I finally understand why so many people say they ""hate" going to the dentist. The numbing injections in my upper gums were extremely painful. Normally, a topical numbing agent is given time to work first, but it felt like the injections were administered almost immediately. I was not fully numb, and I nearly jumped out of the chair twice. Throughout the procedure, the experience felt rushed and impersonal. The assistant repeatedly sprayed water down my face and neck without wiping it away. When they asked me to check my bite, I told them a couple times it did not feel right, but I could sense frustration and no longer felt comfortable speaking up. At that point, I just wanted to leave. When the work was finished, I was handed a small, dingy mirror to look at my teeth. Between the lighting in the room and the condition of the mirror, I couldn't really see the quality of the work. It wasn't until I looked in a proper mirror after leaving the office that I realized how disappointed I was with the results. The biggest issue is the quality of the work itself. Since having my two front teeth filled, my bite feels off, I have developed a slight lisp, one edge feels sharp, and I cannot get floss between one side of the teeth. There is now a gap between my front teeth that never existed before, food gets trapped there, and there is a small dark-looking area on one tooth that concerns me. The fillings are uneven in both color and shape, and the bottom edges of my front teeth are no longer straight as they were before. If this review site allowed photos, I would gladly post them because the problems are visible and speak for themselves. I did post photos on Google Reviews so others could better understand the scope of what I'm describing rather than having to rely solely on my written explanation. I had previously asked on multiple occasions for a lighter shade filling material because one of my front teeth had always appeared darker than my natural teeth after earlier work done at this office. Each time I was told the lightest shade available was being used, despite being told before appointments that a lighter shade would be ordered. Another concern is that I had previously been approved for a crown on one front tooth. I chose to delay that treatment and have the tooth filled instead. The neighboring front tooth had also developed a crack, and I specifically asked whether they could try to get that tooth approved as well. Both teeth were filled before X-rays were taken, which left me confused about how the approval process was being evaluated. I'm not even sure whether an X-ray was taken of the tooth I was hoping to have approved. To be fair, the front desk staff has always been kind, professional, and efficient. I rarely had to wait for appointments. Unfortunately, the dental work itself left me extremely dissatisfied. I left feeling uncomfortable, unheard, and unhappy with the results. I honestly could not get out of the dental chair and office fast enough. I have already scheduled an appointment with another dental office that came highly recommended and was very understanding of my concerns. I sincerely hope my experience there will be much better.
Extremely disappointed with our experience. My mother had a front crown re-cemented, and within a couple of hours on the same day it came back off and was accidentally swallowed. She was reassured it would last until her next appointment a couple weeks out. I called and asked why the person (Diana) who performed the procedure did not warn her about the possibility of it falling out sooner. We understand complications can happen, but we expected better quality and better communication when concerns were raised. The interaction was also very disappointing. The woman working the front desk on Tuesday around 4 PM repeatedly dismissed our concerns rather than supporting us during a stressful situation. For every question I asked, I kept receiving the same information repeatedly, despite explaining that I understood and was looking for a solution for my mother. At that point, I expressed my frustrations, and the call was ended. When we called back, my mother was told she was not allowed to come to appointments without me because I was allegedly being disrespectful and swearing, which I dispute. I asked if call recordings could be reviewed for clarification, and that request was not addressed.
I’ve been a patient at 1st Family Dental of Elgin for many years, and I’ve always had great experiences with the entire team. Everyone is friendly, professional, and genuinely cares about their patients. I recently had an appointment with Dr. Ruqaya Lilo, and she was absolutely amazing. She took the time to explain everything clearly, made sure I was comfortable during the procedure, and showed real compassion and attention to detail. You can tell she truly cares about her patients’ well-being. The staff at the front desk are always welcoming and organized, and the dental hygienists are wonderful too, gentle, thorough, and efficient. I highly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a place that combines excellent dental care with kindness and professionalism. Thank you to Dr. Lilo and the entire 1st Family Dental team for always providing such great care!
