I went to Harwood Smiles for my first appointment Friday, February 27th (a coworker told me she goes there). I had a wonderful experience - everyone was professional and personable, knowledgeable, and very helpful!! While I was there, my general anxiety about going to the dentist left me - they helped me feel relaxed (I unfortunately had a bad experience at my previous dentist office). I have found my new dentist! 😊 I highly recommend Harwood Smiles!!

I was disappointed with my experience regarding transparency and patient education. I was quoted $35 for a prescription mouthwash and was told it was not covered by insurance. I specifically asked if that price included insurance, and the answer was no. The office continued to push me to purchase it directly from them. I asked for a written prescription so I could check pricing at my pharmacy using my health insurance prescription benefits. At the pharmacy, the exact same mouthwash cost me 8 cents. What was most frustrating is that I had to ask the insurance-related questions and advocate for myself. At no point was I educated on my options or informed that filling the prescription through a pharmacy could be significantly cheaper. It felt more like a sales push than patient-first care. I’m sharing this so others know to ask questions and explore their options before purchasing prescriptions directly from the office. Transparency and patient education should be part of quality care.
