Coming to the Big Island from the world-renowned Scripps Medical network in La Jolla, I was lucky to have found Dr. Charles Sugiyama, who runs an equally well-connected state-of-the-art dental practice in Hilo. My experience has been that he is a fierce advocate for his patients. He worked with me (in spite of my dread to begin) to execute the best possible treatment plan and outcome I could have imagined. He is of good character and has his patients’ best interest at heart. Dr. Sugiyama’s practical and well-educated approach inspire confidence and trust. Had my very first visit with Dr. Sugiyama this week. Dr. Charles Sugiyama is a highly detailed dentist, explains things thoroughly, informative about health risks, listens to your concerns, and you both form a dental plan together. Dr. Sugiyama has received multiple dental awards. I found him to be extremely pleasant and humorous as well. Thank you to receptionist Lori for rescheduling me for an earlier appointment due to a cancellation per my request. What more can one ask for?!!!

The hygienist (sorry I didn’t catch her name) was thorough and didn’t cause me any discomfort. Dr. Sugiyama was also very friendly, and efficient with his time spent with me. As always, the receptionist Lori has an award winning smile on her face and greets you like they’re happy to see you back. 😄

Kimberly was fantastic. I'm 72, had many many cleanings over the years - this has to be the best cleaning ever! Gentle and Thorough. Great chair-side manner. Very professional. Thank You so much. Never thought I'd be saying this about a dental cleaning....I am actually looking forward to my next cleaning in 6 months, thanks to the wonderful Hygienist - Kimberly!!!

This was one of the best dentist visit I have experienced. The technician was very caring, kind, and made sure I knew what steps were coming next. She explained dental care very well. I was very impressed with the care the doctor went through to discuss how to keep up my oral health. He was very sincere and thorough. I would highly recommend!
