Had one of the worst dental experiences of my life on 5/21/26 with my 4 year old son. The tech started out perfect, understanding that this was my son’s first dental experience and working to relate to him so he wasn’t scared. He began struggling and she was coaching him through it really well, she was great. Then Dr. Ray came in and tried to start his assessment at this time. My son was clearly scared as he has never met the Dr and was still struggling to allow assessments. I reiterated that this was his first ever dental exam and that he was 4 years old. Dr. Ray proceeded to tell my son that if he doesn’t cooperate that he would get sent to another dentist where “Your dad won’t be allowed back with you, and you will need to be knocked out for them to check you”. He was clearly in a rush and had no intention of slowing down to assist him through this current fear. My 4 year old began crying and I began coaching him and attempting to calm him. Dr. Ray looked at me confused and could not understand why my son was crying. He proceeded to tell me that if he couldn’t perform his assessment that he would need to leave because “I have other patients and this is being rude to them.” He kept pushing and trying to force my son to comply with the assessments while he was still crying. He tried to show my son the assessment process on me but he was still crying and needed a minute to relax. At this point I knew my son was too scared and not going to comply at all due the demeanor of the doctor. Dr. Ray then proceeded to tell my son “You’re acting like a brat, nothing has hurt you, if I can’t check you you’re gonna have to go somewhere else.” He again repeated that he has other patients and needed to go. I stopped him and told him that we were done and we would go somewhere else if necessary. He patted my son on the head and walked out. The tech then came back as I worked to calm my son. She apologized and started working with my son again. After I got him calm, she coached him and he opened him mouth, allowing some assessments and even brushing. She did really well getting him to allow her to perform some care. He even laughed with her at some points. She ended the appointment with another apology and a toy/new tooth brush for my son. She provided me with a referral to a pediatric dentist which we will be using. After I left, I realized how atrocious the experience we just had was. I understand that my son was struggling and not complying, but for a doctor to act this way was completely unacceptable. Due to this, my family will be looking for a new dentist. The front end staff and techs have been great, but the experience with Dr. Ray just solidifies my decision. Do better.

My husband and I have been patients for 16 years and the practice is amazing! Dr. Mira and Dr. Ray are kind people and they are supported by a wonderful staff. Rhonda and Kimberly are fantastic and always greet you with a smile. The care provided by Bay Hill Dental is one of a kind.

The front desk people are amazing! Super friendly and they remember each patient's name! The technicians are awesome and do a great job! The doctor is great, fast and knows his stuff!
