Happy Braces Orthodontics, La Mirada

In 2024 I decided to have my retainers adjusted after finishing treatment with Happy Braces 2 years prior. I called in September 2024 to learn the total cost, and was told that a retainer adjustment is $100 and the office visit is $50, so $150 total. I also asked the total for new retainers: $800 for the new retainers, and a $50 office visit fee, so $850 total. In both instances I was told the office visit fee is $50. I don’t remember the name of the lady who told me this. On the day of my appointment, I’m told the office visit fee is $150. I was not informed about this price change at all. When I first called I discussed the costs very thoroughly and had a witness with me; I brought this up to the receptionist on the day of the app. but she repeated it would be $150 after she double-checked with management. For some reason the price for the retainer adjustment went from $100 to $95 too, so it’s evident that their prices are being changed or are different from what they are telling patients over the phone. I ended up paying $245 ($95 for the retainer adjustment and $150 for the office visit). After I left I realized how unprofessional this “bait-and-switch” was. I called again a few weeks later to get some type of reimbursement, but was told that they had a note somewhere that said I was informed about the $150 office visit fee in May. I’m not sure how this piece of information was relevant when it was Happy Braces themselves that informed me in September 2024, months after May, that the office visit fee is $50. Happy Braces doesn’t care so much about treating you than they do with making as much money off of you as possible. They lack transparency and are not the type to compensate you for their mistakes. The fact that they charge $800 for retainers to begin with is questionable; I was able to find a nearby orthodontist who charged only $500 instead. Overall, I am disappointed with how this was the orthodontist I spent years with, a lot of trust was lost after this incident.

Great service. always friendly and helpful. Ease of making appointments. The dental assistant allowed my daughter to brush her teeth while the wire was off…very helpful to make sure she keeps her teeth clean. Assistant was able to answer all ly question. Very happy

I have had both my kids come here for 3 years now and they are fantastic! Elayanna the receptionist is so amazing she remembers me everytime I come and is so nice to everyone! The Dr is very good with kids and has great communication with the parents. I always recommend this orthodontist office to everyone.

I’m currently still in the process of my orthodontic treatment, but I already see such a huge difference in my teeth compared to when I first started. The progress has been amazing, and it really makes me feel more confident with my smile. The whole team has been great throughout the process, and I especially want to shout out Elyana at the front desk—she is always so kind, welcoming, and helpful every time I come in. She makes scheduling and check-ins super easy and always has a positive attitude. Overall, I’ve had a really good experience so far and I’m excited to see my final results. Definitely recommend!

Love coming here. Elaine is always on top of making sure we are taken care of with any question we might have or any issues we need to address. The entire office staff is respectful and helpful. All the assistants are kind, careful and knowable. And Dr. Santos is the best!! Would recommend coming here to anyone.
