Family Dental Practice of Lancaster

I am writing this review to share my honest experience with this clinic during my orthodontic treatment from November 2022 to November 2025. Overall, I experienced a severe lack of consistency, poor communication, and rushed care. About a year and a half into my treatment, the clinic abruptly switched my primary orthodontist without warning. Toward the end of my treatment, my assigned orthodontist was consistently absent, and I was repeatedly handed off to substitute orthodontists who clearly weren't familiar with my case. Despite the setbacks caused by these staff changes, the clinic began pressuring me to remove my braces before my treatment was actually finished. They even threatened to charge me extra fees for additional visits—even though the doctor switch was the main reason my treatment was taking longer than expected. On the day scheduled for removal, my orthodontist was not even in the office. I explicitly voiced my concerns that several teeth were still misaligned and requested to fix them before removing the braces due to my teeth grinding and bit being misaligned. Instead of addressing the issue, the staff simply told me there was "nothing they could do" and forced me to proceed with taking them off. To confirm my concerns, I went as far as getting a second opinion from another orthodontist. They confirmed that my teeth still needed correction and recommended getting braces or Invisalign again to fix the exact issues I had pointed out. Orthodontics is a massive, long-term financial investment. Patients deserve continuity of care, respectful communication, and the results they were promised—not to be rushed out the door with unfinished work. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for treatment.

I give two stars as the DDS himself was good and thorough. Too bad he works at this meat market of a dental clinic! My first visit went smoothly enough. I waited perhaps 15 minutes. My second visit I waited almost an hour, then once in the chair I waited at least 30 minutes longer! My third visit! HA! What a joke. I sat in the crowded waiting room for OVER 3 hours! I saw a woman go up to the desk and it was clear she was upset. I moved to an empty seat closer to the desk. She was complaining about the horrid wait times for her, this visit and the previous two she said! 2-4 hours waits. I waited still, it had only been an hour at that time. At the 3 hour mark another different woman went up to the desk. She was much more serious. She complained about having to wait YET again. She said she WILL contact Medi-Cal and the ADA about this clinic AGAIN!! She told the clerk that their common practice of having 20 or more people waiting at all times in the waiting room was unprofessional. Especially with the TV going and many people listening to their own shoes on their cell phones. That cacophony was HORRID! This woman said she was leaving and don't they DARE try to charge her for a "missed appointment" AGAIN as she was here and waiting and it was the fault of the dental office that she, the patient, is leaving. I waited maybe 20 more minutes and then simply walked out. No, did not get charged a missed appointment fee. They've called me often since then. I've told them TWICE do not call me as I will not be returning to their office. I got another voicemail today! UGH

Pamela greeted me with a warm hello and smile, She asked questions regarding any discomfort and explained the process regarding my deep cleaning. She also explained the various work I need done in the future and scheduled my next appointment. Francisco the hygienist was extremely proficient and thorough. He also asked questions about my comfort and did an amazing job with my derp cleaning. When I felt pain he was very gentle. Juanetta Stephens

“Hygienist Francisco Munguia is the best hygienist ever!! I been going to this office for 1 year and more and I truly recommend him. He is consistently pleasant, professional, and took the time to show me proper techniques and was so patient with all my questions. He has a great personality and truly cares about his patients' oral health and comfort. You can tell he loves what he does!" the time to explain everything clearly. It’s rare to find someone so skilled and genuinely kind.

Let me start of how nervous I was coming to this place because of the ratings. But let me tell you is my fist time here and this place was busy, the receptionist there were really nice with great customer skills. Did my X-rays with Miguel and he was nice and professional. There was a lil long wait time but I understand because is my first time there, got called back to get seen by dr. Josh and the lady didn’t got her name but he is very professional made sure i understood & clarify everything I needed for my teeth, the both did amazing job. Then I needed to get my deep cleaning for my teeth and got seen by Cindy , she did and amazing job didn’t felt a thing at all, right now my teeth feel nice and clean thank you for your excellent service , great team work. Will recommend this place to anyone. Looking forward to my next visit.

rinse, repeat The office staff should confirm insurance approval before scheduling. I had to cancel a second appointment because approval wasn’t in place. It’s an hour drive each way for me and wastes time, transportation, and resources. This overbooking clogs multiple systems. Confirming approvals beforehand would reduce unnecessary stress and environmental impact. If you look up the company, they market themselves as not being “cookie-cutter.” However, in my experience, the process felt standardized and impersonal.
