Dental Care of Lombard

I brought a mouthful of large silver fillings into adulthood. In looking for a new dentist when I moved to the Chicago area, one dentist said my insurance would allow six crowns a year. He could take care of it in two years. Not what I wanted. I found a dentist who agreed to retain as much natural tooth as possible. He had been my dentist for thirty years when he retired. I had retired five years earlier. I was advised to find a more aggressive practitioner, which seemed to make some sense. The dentist I found placed two crowns in the same area (to minimize the area to be numbed) twice a year. It was a plan, but not one that gave me a lot of confidence. I took a year off from dental care during COVID and then found Dr. Glud. After a couple of maintenance appointments, Dr. Glud said to me, “We need a plan.” I was interested. She sent me to an endodontist to address gum disease and to perform deep scaling. She identified a tooth that was beyond repair and sent me to an endodontist for extraction, bone growth and placement of an implant. Dr. Glud, together with the endodontist, developed a map identifying troublesome teeth, and importantly, the health of the underlying bone. Together they monitored changes over time and addressed problems that arose. I suffered two episodes of excruciating pain. When I called Dr. Glud, she had me come in the same day and looked at the problem tooth, then said it probably need to be extracted. Since my endodontist was unavailable, she found a local dentist to look at the tooth the same day. He extracted the tooth. I later went to my endodontist for bone growth and an implant. Dr. Glud fashioned and installed the crown. She is a meticulous practitioner. The second incident was a tooth that had a crown. Dr. Glud examined me the same day and again my endodontist was not available. Dr. Glud sent me to a local dentist who did a root canal through the crown as Dr. Glud had suggested might be the appropriate treatment. Back to the plan. In addition to brushing and flossing, Dr. Glud encouraged me to adopt additional procedures and to be diligent about my dental hygiene. She referred me to excellent specialists and managed my ongoing treatment including new crowns and issues with old fillings. Today, now approaching eighty, I have a mix of implants, crowns and natural teeth all working in harmony. The plan is working. I haven’t had a cavity in the last two and a half years. My gum disease has been eliminated. Incidentally, the office staff is cheerful, efficient and professional. One more thing. Dr. Glud asked me if I’d like her to fix the chipped front tooth. Both previous dentists had ignored the issue YES. She did the repair and gave me back my smile. I presented a mouthful of challenges; I’m a tough grader. Dr. Glud is the best!

Finding a new dentist as an adult was scary until I came across this gem! Everyone is always so friendly and the appointments are super quick with little to no pain. The numbing gel they use is awesome. Will be booking here from now on!

Dr. Julie Glud and her staff, including everyone from when you walk in, to when you walk out, are all gifted at making a dental phobe feel at ease. Dr. Glud is a gifted dentist and perfectionist. I avoided dentists for years and now feel comfortable in the chair. My highest recommendations to the entire team!!

I had the best experience at Dental Care of Lombard. Despite my dental anxiety stemming from past negative experiences, everyone from Barb at the front desk to Kim, the hygienist, exudes an incredibly calming energy that instantly puts me at ease! I can’t say enough good things about Kim. She was so great at making me feel calm and safe. She walked me through everything she was doing and consistently asked if I was okay. It was my first time with her but it truly felt like I’d been her patient a long time. I can’t recommend this place enough!!

Everyone I worked with in the office was wonderful. The administrative staff was welcoming and helpful. The Hygienist Kim put me at ease with her great sense of humor. Dr. Glud offered her recommendations after doing a thorough review of my Dental History and examination of my teeth.
