Family Dental Missoula

This is probably the best experience I've had so far with dental works over the years. I like the staff, they are polite and professional, but also silly and affable. The facility is well located in central missoula inside the mall and has a very clean and cozy reception area.

July 1st 2026. I was in Missoula for a doctor appointment. While eating a late lunch a tooth that had been hurting broke. Not knowing where to go, I walked into Family Dental in the mall at 3:30 pm. They got me in at 4pm and examined me. They offered to stay late and fix my tooth. They did an emergency root canal and a crown right then and there. They stayed until 8:30 pm. I was blown away by the level of concern and willingness to help me. The staff are super friendly and very experienced. They all did a great job. Very grateful.

I had a very pleasant experience at Family Dental at Southgate Mall getting a crown re-cemented. It actually turned in to getting two crowns re-cemented as the second one popped off as I was being x-rayed. Staff were professional, friendly, and accommodating.

Do not come here! I got my teeth done by Lindsey Gross 2 years ago and I still have problems with them. I've been back once to try and have them correct the issues but they persist. I'm still very upset by how I was treated there and how little the dentist seemed to care about my teeth. As soon as she was done with my fillings she got up and left, didn't say anything just left, she didn't even clean up all the jagged and sharp edges she left on my teeth. I had to ask the assistant to bring her back in to file them down and fix the bite! I'm definitely never going back! After the appointment I actually looked into going to another dentist instead of coming back but the consensus was that I had to give her a second chance to fix the issues. The issues remain, I'm now looking at going to other dentists to see if they can fix what she did. My teeth are more sensitive, jagged with sharp edges, fragile, and have multiple gaps that were never there before. I NEVER should have come here!! I have been struggling with the insane amount of anxiety my teeth now bring me. All the other staff were very sweet and kind but the one doing all the drilling sucked!!

For Allegiance insurance members: Dr. Stanley Rasmussen is classified as in-network for his Idaho dentist office, but for Family Dental in Missoula, Montana, he IS NOT. This distinction is not clarified outright by the billing staff. As for actual care, the dental hygienists are efficient and personable. They are comforting and understanding, and make the experience pleasant as a visit to the dentist can be. I had one filling done by Rasmussen, which resulted in sharp pain on tooth contact and flossing. He ground the filling down a little bit and suggested I use Sensodyne. I will follow that advice, and will update if it actually helps or not.
