Lawhead Family Dentistry - Muscatine

I have been going to this dental office for at least 50 years. I've always gotten good service in the past. I feel I've gotten even better service recently. Dr Carlin's son Chris has joined the practice. Since Dr Carlin is not in the office as much as he used to be, I switched to Dr Chris. He has done some amazing things for me, including an exam and modification of a partial plate at no charge to me. Amazing! I just had two more teeth pulled and had to have the partial plate modified again. He did a great job with that, including adjustments to the plate after receiving it back from the lab. He has it fitting very comfortably. I highly recommend them! ADDITIONAL INFO: I had three more teeth pulled, show the partial plate had to be modified again. Dr Chris did that, rather than ordering a new partial. Again, he did a great job for a fair price. I still highly recommend them!! Friendly, knowledgeable, and competent staff!

STAY AWAY!!! Bad business practice, it's not worth it. Ok, so I had to reschedule an appointment and intended to make my PAST DUE balance of $24 (Yes $24) at my next appointment, which I made clear it will be taken care of at that point. Mind you, they WOULDN'T take a payment during one of my visits cause they weren't "sure" how much it would be.. fine. I've been super busy at work so rescheduling got difficult, I just needed a little more time. Next thing I know, they call me during work hours and left a vm saying "if you don't make a payment TODAY BEFORE 4:30pm , we're sending you to collections". What kind of notice is that? I was still at work at 4:30. Needless to say, they sent my $24 past due balance to collections. Balance due wouldn't have been due if they've taken my payment when I wanted to pay in the first place. STAY AWAY... I literally just spent of bunch of money there (thousands) and the $24 I missed with one one call notice with literally a few hours notice to pay it... they sent me to collections. STAY AWAY... not worth it.

We are new to the area and my 6yo has a toothache. Several places I had called weren't taking new patients, but the rudeness of the receptionist at Lawhead took the frustration of the situation to a new level. She told me we could wait 3 months for their next available appointment - who would let their child suffer that long? So I very politely asked whether they had emergency appointment times, which every dentist I've been to has had set aside for acute cases. She said "no, ma'am" in such a nasty tone, and when I asked if she knew anywhere local that did provide for emergency cases, her response was, "I don't know, go to Iowa City." So unwelcoming to new community members. So uncaring toward a suffering child. I called Gentle Dental and they told me where to go if my child's discomfort became unbearable before I could get an appointment. That's just basic human dignity and respect, which was totally missing from my conversation at with the receptionist at Lawhead.

What a wonderful office! Dr. Chris is so great at explaining every part of his procedures. I love Becca as his assistant. Allie has cleaned my teeth and is gentle and very thorough! Super friendly too. I will recommend this office to my family & friends!

I have been a patient with Dr. C. lawhead for 25 years. I now take my 2 young children to him as well! The staff is amazing, Allie out hygienist is amazing! Very professional yet personable! We love catching up with her every visit. The whole office is great easy to deal with and makes any visit or transaction smooth and easy!
