I love coastal dental. From Ms. Victoria being one of the friendly faces up front, to Ms. Jen doing my X-rays, to Dr. Bowen being very thorough and letting me know why I’m experiencing pain. Overall this staff is amazing! The office is very clean and tidy! Easy in and out of clinic.

Dr Bowen was very knowledgeable and did a very careful examination. He explained my problems and solutions clearly. My hygienist Kimia did the most gentle and precise cleaning work I have ever experienced. Very happy with my visit and glad we chose this dental clinic

UPDATE: June 15, 2026 I returned for a cleaning today and wanted to re-visit my review from six weeks ago with even more glowing feedback... I have to highlight Sarah, and the attention she pays to my comfort throughout each visit, and the clear compassion she has for a patient who has been through dental trauma in the past. Her care and effort to minimize any discomfort really stands out. I feel genuinely lucky to have found her and the team in general at CDA! Okay, back to my original review... I randomly chose this office through my new insurance and honestly could not have had a better experience. From the moment I walked in, everything felt welcoming, modern, upbeat, and strangely comforting, like visiting friends who just happen to be incredibly good at dentistry. The entire staff was warm, transparent, and genuinely kind at every step, from the front desk to billing to the actual procedures themselves. Plus their office feels like its from the future! They even have lasers that make "pew pew" sounds when they use them to do stuff in your mouth! I’ve always had anxiety around dental work, but the dentist and hygienist (Sarah - the coolest!) made me feel completely safe, informed, and cared for. Even a procedure that could have been stressful somehow turned into an experience that was actually kinda fun - painful - but fun. I especially appreciated how transparent everyone was about treatment options and costs, that level of honesty means a lot to me. Add in the fact that I get to walk there through Little Italy to get to the appointment - the whole thing honestly feels like finding a little hidden gem in my neighborhood. Very grateful I found this place. And while I hope I never have to see them outside of regularly cleanings again this lifetime, I'm actually excited to have an excuse to go visit this place every few months...

After moving from Ventura, I had a difficult time finding a dentist in San Diego, which unfortunately caused me to put off a lot of my dental needs. I am very grateful that I finally found Coastal Dental Arts. Dr. Chotiner and Dr. Mac are both wonderful dentists, each in their own way. Dr. Chotiner is incredibly educational, detail-oriented, and very precise in the way he explains treatment options. He discusses different scenarios thoroughly and clearly considers both efficiency and long-term health outcomes when recommending treatment. As someone who is very detail-oriented myself as an engineer, I truly appreciated the time and thought he puts into helping patients make informed decisions. Dr. Mac is wonderful in a different way. He is extremely caring, calm, and communicative. He explains alternatives clearly and genuinely wants the best outcome for his patients. What especially stood out to me was that he personally checked on me by text after my extraction procedure to make sure I was doing okay and to make sure I could reach out directly if needed. That level of care and follow-up is something I have honestly not experienced at other dental offices, and it meant a lot to me. I also want to mention hygienist Sarah, who was amazing during my cleaning appointment and very supportive while I was processing a lot of information about my dental needs and treatment plan. Her kindness and patience really stayed with me. I still have a long dental journey ahead of me, but after being in the office a few times already, I truly feel that I am in good hands.

Dr. Ari sets the tone with true professionalism and a calm, reassuring presence. She takes the time to explain everything clearly and makes sure you feel confident and comfortable with your treatment plan. My hygienist, Sarah, is equally amazing—thorough, gentle, and incredibly attentive. She always checks in to make sure I’m comfortable and goes above and beyond to make what could be a stressful experience feel easy and relaxed. Everyone else who has assisted during my visits has been just as kind and professional. The entire team works together seamlessly, creating a warm and positive atmosphere that truly feels world-class. It’s rare to find a dental office that combines such high-quality care with such genuine compassion. Michelle in the front office is a little awkward but funny. She’s cool in my book. 👍🏽 I honestly don’t see myself going anywhere else. If you’re looking for exceptional service and a team that truly cares about their patients, this is the place to go!

My hygienist, Donia has been instrumental in my dental health. She has suggested some remedies for my gum disease that have totally work within two visits. My whole dental care experience has changed since I started using Dr Choitner. Best of all, I can practice my putting in the waiting room!
