Ascend Functional Dentistry (Previously Trumbull Dental Arts)

During my last appointment, I loved the hygienist: she was professional, thorough, and informative. I have been coming here for the past three years and only in the last year have I been having issues. First, the office is making a switch to holistic dentistry and changing their name. On May 1 2025, it was suggested to me to remove a metal filling. It was a healthier route to take and your body is a temple etc...I get it but maybe not necessary to remove something that isn't a problem just yet. I told them I would think about it. Fast forward to Nov 6. again it was suggested that I remove the only metal filling I have. Again, I said I would think about it. I felt pressured into giving an answer on the spot and didn't want to. I wasn't having any pain. Also my opinion is if its not broken don't fix it. When I mentioned I would be getting a second opinion it became an unprofessional situation. The attitude I received was awful and the eye rolling was uncalled for. I was told the filling was leaking mercury and it was bad for me, and the doctor literally walked away from the conversation. It left me to ask follow up questions to the hygienist who again she was really sweet and kind. My second opinion dentist told me the filling was fine, it wasn't leaking and there was no reason to remove it.

I have been wanting to make the move to a holistic dentist for a while. Finally, I took the leap and transferred to the incredible Dr. Alison Kudish. Impressed would be an understatement. From her highly trained and friendly staff, to the thorough consult, examination, 3D pictures and X-rays. I have never been treated for this kind of care in any dental office before. She even gave me liposomal vitamin C and red light therapy to calm any anxiety. Dr. Kudish takes a full body approach and not only cares about dental health, but also saliva flora. She even treated my mild obstructive sleep apnea with a state of the art appliance. I am finally sleeping through the night! No supplements or breathing machine ever solved the problem or helped. Her appliance did! My Oura ring now states optimal sleep. I’ve been wearing the ring for a year now and never clocked those results. I can’t say enough wonderful things about this practice. I transferred my kids under her care and she’s helping prevent cavities with a holistic sealer and ozone therapy. If I could give any advice, go meet her! It will be the best money spent. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable but also sensitive, gentle, and proactive in her approach to patient care. She takes the time to listen to all questions and concerns, explaining procedures thoroughly and ensuring you are comfortable every step of the way. Her commitment to excellence and trust makes a significant difference, especially for those who might typically feel anxious about dental visits. Tiffany was equally exceptional in her duties demonstrating the same level expertise and care. The office itself is spotless, up-to-date with modern equipment, and overall a fantastic place for dental care. I started using Trumbull Dental Arts because my one-man shop dentist retired and I needed to find something new. This brought me into the world of modern dentistry which is so embraced with this office! I brought my little negatives of previous x-rays and was greeted by a 3D scan of my mouth to form a model showing all of my teeth. The advanced x-rays showed I needed a bunch of fillings, but the procedure for these fillings has been pretty amazing. My chief worry that my tongue get too close to all the drills was abated when they showed me the contraption that goes in your mouth and keeps the tongue at bay. I have met a surprising number of people with all of my visits and I have found everyone (the receptionists up front, the hygienists, the techs that assist during the fillings, and Dr Kudish) to be very nice, very welcoming, and gentle with the dentist work. Never have I left with my mouth in pain and I feel they have listened to me and heard my concerns. Overall, I can recommend Trumbull Dental Arts.

On my initial visit I was greeted warmly and felt welcomed. I had a thorough cleaning by Sarah who couldn’t have been more pleasant. My next visit I was again welcomed with nothing but friendliness which automatically puts you in a comfort zone. I then needed some repair work which all went great. Of course I was a bit nervous but was treated so gently and no pain whatsoever. I am very happy that I found a great dental practice!
