Reflection Cosmetic Dentistry

I work in a dental office and called this practice to schedule an appointment for a patient who is traveling and is in need of treatment as soon as possible. The way my call was handled was completely unprofessional. The person who answered the phone simply said, “Hello.” When I asked if I had reached the dental office, instead of answering my question, she loudly demanded, “Who is this?” I asked again if I had reached the dental office, and she again loudly said, “Who is this?” without ever confirming whether I had called the correct office. At no point was there any professional greeting or attempt to assist me. I waited about 5–8 minutes and called back. I asked to speak with the office manager. When I was asked why, I stated that I wanted to make a complaint about how my call had been handled. The person then told me she was the manager. After I explained exactly what had occurred, her only response was, “Okay.” There was no apology, no concern, and no attempt to address the situation. As someone who works in the dental field, I refer patients to specialists on a regular basis. This office lost the opportunity to treat a patient because of the unprofessional behavior of the person answering the phone and the manager’s complete lack of concern when the issue was brought to her attention. If this is how referring offices are treated, I cannot recommend this practice. Based on my experience, this office could greatly benefit from improved customer service and phone etiquette.

I was highly impressed with the hygienist who quickly found and pointed out some serious dental/gum issues while I was there for a periodic teeth cleaning. The dentist was called in to confirm and a referral was made to a periodontist to address these issues. Very appreciative of that for dental health maintenance. She explained things in a way that stressed the importance to get on with a specialist post haste.

Hello. I wasn't going to write a review; I usually save this for positive ones. But I visited Reflective Dentistry yesterday and have received multiple solicitations for a review, so I'm obliged to comply. I went in for my cleaning, and it started out fairly normal, except that the 'intake' receptionist I usually see was 'out', but the 'outtake' receptionist who's usually there was in, so she checked me in. I waited, my hygienist came and got me from the lobby, escorted me to my area, and we 'got comfortable'. I am 54, and I have challenges when I visit the dentist. One is that I have a small mouth, which makes some procedures difficult. I explained some of the challenges to my new hygienist and inquired about my old hygienist. Her name, my prior hygienist, is Alissa (I know how to say it, not spell it, but that should be close). I commented that 'Alissa' had a very gentle touch and was very patient. My new hygienist quipped, "I'm not patient?" Maybe, too soon to tell. The cleaning was physically 'uncomfortable'. During x-rays, my hygienist told me to close my teeth; I couldn't. So she takes the shield out of my mouth, and then demonstrates how to close one's teeth. I was a little upset. I told her I know how to close my teeth, I said I can't close them, I didn't say I don't know how. At one point, after already advising me to buy an electric toothbrush, my hygienist asked if I considered braces. I simply replied, " Please let's just get this completed. When the Doc came in, there was something off about him. I've been seeing him for years, but he seemed physically off. I can't explain it. When I was checking out, this was weird: I saw a screwdriver lying on the counter at a dentist's office. And the fact that it was lying there probably wasn't weird, but the fact that I thought it was weird, in and of itself, seems weird now. Anyway, I paid my co-pay. I told the receptionist, 'It feels different in here today.' She was very kind; she looked at me with an inquisitive look and asked, 'Really?' I smiled and shrugged. I grabbed my goodie bag of swag, walked out to my bike, fired it up, and rode away. That's my review, or more accurately, my most recent experience. Adam.

Just waited over 2 hours for the staff to take 5 minutes to fix my wife’s filling. She made an appointment to get a check up, fix a filling, and get a cleaning. They failed to clean her teeth after we waited 2 hours. They left her in a room with no communication and then when the hygienist finally came in the room, they stated that they were never told my wife was there even though she had seen the dentist and dental assistant in that time. Again after 2 freaking hours!! The dentist took over an hour to even come in to fix the filling. After all of that, they had the audacity to try to upsell on a teeth whitening. And wouldn’t stop trying to sell it even after my wife told them no. And finally they failed to communicate that there was an issue with her insurance when she was there for 2 whole hours. My wife came out crying because of how bad the experience was. Seriously unprofessional and incompetent.

This office was listed first by location for my insurance, Delta Dental. I was able to get an appointment quickly because I was having tooth pain. The staff was very friendly and everyone had a good sense of humor (required.) Dr. Spinks was very nice and knowledgeable. I have adverse reactions to the sound of drilling in my mouth, but Dr. Spinks made sure that I was not feeling any physical pain. My husband attended the appointment with me and we will both be coming back.
