Sanilac Smiles Dental Care - Sandusky, MI

We moved from out of state a few years ago and anticipated difficulties starting a new office after 30 with our previous provider. Sanilac Smiles delivers fine services. I had difficulties with insurance, then health problems requiring immediate service. Sanilac Smiles didn't blink but took care of us.

First visit here and Everyone was amazing absolutely no complaints thank you all

Seems odd that it took 2 weeks for you to call me back after calling twice regarding my broken tooth, but you respond to a review with hours on a day that your office is closed!!!! Have to start out saying I've only been coming here about 1 year since moving back from down state. Neighbors buddy(personal friend of Dr. but, neighbor goes down state for dental care), recommended, said he drives from Oakland County, so, I gave him a try. Front desk and hygienist were very pleasant every visit, others not so much. I had a cavity(19 top front) and I wanted to have it bonded. Dr. Burdua convinced me that that was not the best choice for the tooth because he stated the bond might not be strong enough and the tooth could break destroying the tooth, he said a crown would be best. I went with his supposedly professional opinion... crown broke off in 6 months(eating an El Pastor soft taco at the best Mexican restaurant La Hacienda) and that tooth broke off another tooth. When those 2 teeth broke off Dr. Burdua was on vacation for 2 weeks. I saw his partner/assistant Dr. Burns she suggested a root canal and then put a post into the root canal for an implant... how crazy is that! But, the story doesn't end there. I had an older crown break and he wanted to send me for root canal. I said no, just pull it. Now, this is the first tooth I've had pulled since my wisdom when I was 21, now 67. Dr. Burdua broke the crown off the tooth to the rear of the one he pulled and I think the tooth on the front side too. My mouth was sore for a couple of weeks and bleed for a day and half. On one of my next visit I mentioned discomfort in that tooth in front, he stated I have a cavity in it, but, didn't mention a month earlier during cleaning. He supposedly fixed the cavity told me I may have discomfort. Within 3 months the tooth broke off... now down 4 teeth! Called the office after the tooth broke during the holidays and got the out of office automated message about them closed and would be calling back, days later, no response, I called again and this time I got an automated message that said currently open unable to get phone and will call back. Turns out they didn't bother changing their message system and was closed for two weeks. When I saw Dr. Burdua, he poked around and popped a piece of tooth out of my mouth and proceeded to tell me the root was cracked and it needed to be pulled. He said, I can pull it and I said no your NOT, send me back to Dr. Beck who had extracted the other broken 2 teeth. After having Dr. Beck extract the tooth and almost no blood on the gauze and absolutely NO PAIN whatsoever, I realized how incompetent Dr. Burdua is, not sure if it's from him being overwhelmed(due his limited schedule 28 hours/week) with patients or just trying to make extra money. I paid him over a thousand dollars and I have insurance. Going to cost thousands of dollars more getting what Dr. Burdua did to my mouth fixed! Stay clear! This is the second review I ever wrote and the first was to Dr. Beck for his great work. Dr Burdua sent me a certified letter telling me I'm NOT allowed to return... who's he trying to fool? Did he really think I was coming back when I walked out his door!

Today was my first time visiting, Sanilac Smiles..Love, love, love this place. Everyone is so friendly & kind. Melissa did such a great job of cleaning my teeth..Very Gentle , & answered my numerous questions. I would recommend this dentist to everyone..
