Dr. Wood was amazing, and Bree, my dental assistant, was just as wonderful! I was honestly nervous about getting a root canal, but they made the entire experience so much easier than I expected. They were kind, patient, and took the time to make sure I was comfortable every step of the way. Dr. Wood explained everything clearly, and Bree was incredibly attentive and reassuring throughout the procedure. The entire team was professional, caring, and made me feel at ease. I highly recommend them to anyone needing dental work they truly turned what I thought would be a stressful appointment into a great experience and I left with a smile! Thank you all so so so much
Entirely unorganized operation. I’m a new patient and they canceled my first appointment without any notice or communication with me. I scheduled it at 8am so I didn’t have to leave work, and I arrive and they said the appointment was canceled. I pulled up all communications id received from them since booking and there was no indication id been canceled. I rescheduled for a few hours later, so I did have to end up missing some work. After driving back, finding parking, and spending my 20 minutes in the waiting room, I’m told they don’t have time for a cleaning because of the initial new patient exam - after sitting around in their waiting room and having an early appointment canceled on me, I wasn’t willing to spend time doing an X-ray that I didn’t want or need, to not even get a cleaning. I’m perfectly fine going through the new patient steps but not when after setting aside 2 hours of my day, I won’t even get the cleaning I came for. The staff were perfectly kind, but their operation is not run with the patient in mind. I won’t be going back and don’t recommend to anyone else looking for dental care in the Atlanta area.
I had a very pleasant experience at the Dekalb Great Expressions office earlier this week. The front desk staff member was extremely patient and helpful while assisting me with reinstating my protection plan. Sue, the X-ray technician, was also professional, knowledgeable, and patient in answering all of my questions and walking through different scenarios with me. Sue and the dentist explanations was very helpful in coming up with an affordable plan moving forward. Overall, the staff made the experience smooth and reassuring. I highly recommend.
My experience with Great Expressions has been really mixed so far. Sometimes it goes smoothly, but more and more lately I feel less taken care of and sometimes even forgotten about. Today I was sitting in an examination room for nearly 90 minutes. A couple times different people walked in and out, one asking me if I had been seen yet or not (I hadn't). I had gotten X-rays done and then it felt like I was just sitting there forever, nobody coming to check on me after I got the news that I'd need a worse procedure than I was initially told I'd been receiving. My biggest grievance so far has been that I've had a few appointments now for consultations for a root canal but the doctor that handles root canals has never even stepped in the room to meet with me. The first time I was supposed to meet with him, my X-rays were taken and all communication took place through a tech. I was told I was fine and didn't need anything done to this problem tooth. A few months later I was back again and told that I now had a crack in the root of my tooth, and now a root canal can't save me so I have to have an extraction. I'm still in debt from previous extractions and can't even afford my implants yet. Part of me wonders that if I had actually been able to meet with this doctor, if this could have been avoided. But now I guess I'll be paying for one more implant eventually. I also want to comment on how none of the professionals in the building except for maybe the woman in the billing department know how to handle someone who is emotionally distressed. I started sobbing after being left alone for so long and being told I would be losing yet another tooth. Everyone acted like I wasn't in distress. The woman in the billing department was the only one to offer me a tissue. One nurse asked if I was ok- but that was it. I'm just starting to feel that there is a general lack of empathy for those who struggle to afford dental care or maybe just are tired of losing teeth and being left out of the loop until the day of an appointment. The only doctor I consistently have good interactions with is Dr. Lee, and the techs are good too, for the most part. But I feel that once I have dental insurance and can go elsewhere, I will. I'm tired of feeling the consistently growing neglect at this office.
I believe this facility is too busy to provide quality care to existing patients. I called to schedule my routine cleaning in February and was told there are no openings until July, which is significantly pass my 6 month cleaning cycle. In May I receive a notification for an appointment I didn't schedule for a day and time that didn't work for me. There was no way to cancel it without calling and no one would answer the phone. I decided to change dentists. I have been trying to get my dental records for over a week from this facility. I've called multiple times and spoken to two separate individuals who said they'd email them and never did. I've tried calling again and have not been able to get a hold of anyone. It has become a part time job just trying to obtain MY Medical records. I would not recommend thos facility to anyone that values quality customer service and communication.
